World Bicycle Day 2025: SAIHP Promotes Healthy Living through Community Ride

On June 3, 2025, the South Asian Institute of Health Promotion (SAIHP) marked World Bicycle Day with an energetic bicycle rally through Anandaban, Bhubaneswar. The event was organized to highlight the health benefits of cycling and to advocate for environmentally sustainable transportation solutions in urban settings.

Leading the event was Dr. Dasarathi Das, Executive Director of SAIHP and retired scientist from ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar. He was joined by Dr. Abhinav Sinha and Mr. Rakesh Sahu, whose active involvement brought enthusiasm and motivation to the occasion.

Dr. Das spoke about the importance of incorporating cycling into daily routines as a means to boost cardiovascular health, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen community bonds. The route through Anandaban served not only as a physical challenge but also as a symbolic journey toward a greener and healthier future.

This initiative by SAIHP successfully conveyed the message that small actions, like choosing a bicycle, can have a significant impact on both personal health and the environment. The ride concluded with a renewed sense of community commitment to sustainable living.
