SAIHP Observes National Epilepsy Day at SOA University, Bhubaneswar

The South Asian Institute for Health Promotion (SAIHP) observed National Epilepsy Day on 16th November at SUM Nursing College, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, aiming to raise awareness and promote understanding of epilepsy.

Dr. Dasarathi Das, Executive Director of SAIHP and former scientist at RMRC Bhubaneswar, delivered an informative session on epilepsy, discussing its causes, early diagnosis, and effective management. He emphasized that epilepsy is a manageable condition and highlighted the urgent need to eliminate stigma through education and awareness.

Professor Amrita Lenka also addressed the students, encouraging a compassionate and evidence-based approach toward neurological conditions. She underscored the critical role of nursing professionals in patient care, support, and advocacy for inclusive and stigma-free environments.

The programme was highly engaging, with students expressing appreciation for the valuable insights shared. The observance reinforced the importance of awareness, empathy, and community participation in improving the quality of life for individuals living with epilepsy.
